Yazzy Fall Workshop & Auditions
Theatre of the Performing Arts of Shreveport (TPA) is sponsoring a 2-day Fall Workshop & Auditions for school aged children/youth ages 7 – 24 who are interested in joining Theatre of the Performing Arts’ Yazzy Youth Celebrating Jazz program. The workshop will consist of arts classes in instrumental music, dance, theater, voice, and visual arts.
This 2-day Fall Workshop & Auditions will take place on Friday, December 16 & Saturday, December 17, at Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy, 2550 Thomas E. Howard Drive. Friday, December 16, registration for new students will begin at 5:30 pm, classes from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. On Saturday, December 17, registration for new students will begin at 8:30 am, classes from 9:00 to 11:15 am. Thereafter, auditions for new participants from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm. Our Yazzy teachers include Donald Walters & Charles Walker in Instrumental Music, Ariel York in dance, Anthonia Hall in theater, Julie B. Lester in voice, and Joanne Y. Black in visual arts. We are currently searching for students to join our series of programs, importantly our upcoming 5th Annual Saturday Development Academy at Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy. The Saturday Development Academy is a cultural arts training program designed to stimulate participant’s creativity in the arts as they explore their own artistic originality and cultural background with a primary focus on jazz music. This 7 week program begins January 14 through February 25, 2017. The first 3 weeks of the Development Academy will consist of workshops for all arts disciplines. Weeks 4 thru 7 will consist of courses and private lessons for instrumental music and voice participants only. A culminating recital will take place on March 4, 11:00 am, in Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy –Auditorium. Tuition for the Saturday Development Academy is $100.00.
